St. John Baseball Families,

Good evening, I have quite a bit of league information to pass along.  I would first like to thank everyone who was able to attend Our League Field Maintenance Day this past Saturday.  We had 107 families volunteering several hours of their day.  We were able to get the majority of projects finished that had been on our list. On behalf of the board, we thank all of you.

Saturday night was also our Annual League Fundraiser Banquet.  Despite being on Easter Saturday we still had a good turnout.  Thanks for everyone who attended, I hope everyone enjoyed themselves.  On a side note, moving forward the banquet will not coincide with Easter again.

Here is a list of the winners from the League Raffle. All families that registered a child for the season had a ticket in the drawing:

  • Tomorrow evening (Tuesday, April 18th) is our League wide picture day at Kolling Elementary.  I have attached the entire league schedule in PDF format so there is no confusion on team scheduled times.
  • We will have the vendor JemHedz on hand tomorrow at Kolling.  They sell Arm Sleeves, Sport Necklaces and Non-Slip Headbands.  I have attached the PDF of their flyer as well.  the prices are as follows:All of their products are $8.00 each or 3/$20 (mix n match necklace, sleeves, headbands) and that also includes their jersey # printed on them.  They take cash, check or charge. Lastly we will have the 1st HOME RUN DERBY that begins at 6:00pm. The ages/divisions break down as follows:

12U-8 through 12 year olds on Field 2

Both Division Home Run Champs will receive A PRIZE FROM ST. JOHN BASEBALL

The winners will get an engraved Baseball Bat along with certificate with a chance to move to the next level of Home Run Derby.

All St. John Baseball Kids are welcomed. You can preregister or register the night of beginning at 5:30pm.

Part of the proceeds from concessions during the HRD will be going to a great cause. Southbend East Side is another league attached to Cal Ripken Baseball with us.  Recently the League President's son was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer.  I met the family during the 8u State Tournament this past July that was held in St. John.  Pierson a.k.a. "Sunshine" is 9 years old.  I do not think I am a philosopher by any means. With that being said,  Baseball is great, but at the end of the day what we are able to contribute back to society and show compassion to others will truly matter in the end. If you cannot attend the HRD all I ask is to keep "Sunshine" in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks,

Joe Bonato
