St. John Baseball Families,

I hope is enjoying the break in weather today.  I wanted to relay some important information.  The majority of teams have started practice.  For the divisions/teams that use Civic T-Ball and Keilman Fields PLEASE DO NOT SIT on the dugout benches.  The posts have begun to rise out of the ground.  We will be removing these ASAP.  I do not want anyone getting hurt, so please keep away until they are re-installed correctly.

Our League wide spirit wear site will close this Sunday, March 26th. All orders need to be placed by then.

DATES:

April 15th: 8:00am Field Maintenance Day

April 15th: 6:30pm-12:00 St. John Baseball League Fundraiser Banquet.  Additional Tickets are available to purchase. Please contact Kristeen Scaggs at:

Secretary.sjyb@gmail.com

April 22nd: Opening Day!

Games begin at 10:00am. Opening Ceremonies tentatively slated to begin at 9:30am.

  • We will have a Kolling Student singing the National Anthem
  • Bounce Houses for all the younger children will provided
  • Freshly grilled Drago Bobs
  • Mascots
  • Guest to throw out the Ceremonial 1st Pitch

Even if you are not playing at 10:00 or that day please come out and join us. It will be a fun filled day for all.

Lastly we will have the 1st HOME RUN DERBY that begins at 6:00pm. The ages/divisions break down as follows:

14U-13 and 14 year olds on Field 1

12U-8 through 12 year olds on Field 2

All St. John Baseball Kids are welcomed. You can preregister or register the night of beginning at 5:30pm.

Part of the proceeds from concessions during the HRD will be going to a great cause. Southbend East Side is another league attached to Cal Ripken Baseball with us.  Recently the League President's son was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer.  I met the family during the 8u State Tournament this past July that was held in St. John.  Pierson a.k.a. "Sunshine" is 9 years old.  I do not think I am a philosopher by any means. With that being said,  Baseball is great, but at the end of the day what we are able to contribute back to society and show compassion to others will truly matter in the end. If you cannot attend the HRD all I ask is to keep "Sunshine" in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks,

Joe Bonato
